In Dawn Sugg?s She Left the Script Behind (1993, 7 min) a scenario of modern day plantation moves to the city streets as a young black actress resists the roles constructed for her. Jane Parrot?s A Hidden Red Line (1992, 12 min) is a journey through the filmmaker?s midwestern childhood as she confronts memories and loss. Addressing homophobia from a culture specific lens, Desi de Valle?s Cruel (1994, 20 min) deals with a Mexican American woman?s attempt to reconcile her insecurities when her Chicana ex-girlfriend begins to date a white woman. Christopher Leo Daniels? Victor (1992, 30 min) uses a lush, lyrical style to describe the life of a black gay soldier, while Hard Candy (1993, 34 min) by Audrea Renee Topps centers on Anna, a young girl who searches for love and understanding in a world full of hatred and violence.
