Often on the news we only hear the troubles with teenagers.

But for the fourth year the Guild Complex has participated in Gallery 37, the city?s summer job program in the arts. For eight weeks, artists and teachers Marcia McCray, Tsehaye Hebert, J.M. Quraysh Ali Lansana, have taught writing and performance to students from high schools across the city. Through their writing we get a truer sense of who the students are, what they dream about, as well as what confronts them every day at home , at school a, and in the streets. Tonight we showcase their writing. It is an opportunity for teachers, students, parents, and the general public to see a side of Chicago?s youth that is too frequently forgotten.
