Each Ten-Pak will present an artist or act that appeared at the Complex over the last decade, a voice or act that has never appeared at the Complex, and a taste of what we do, including poetry, prose, music, performance, multi-media, books, and visual art all on the same night.

George Bailey received his B.A. in Creative Writing, graduating with honors, from Columbia College, and his M.A. in English from DePaul University. His short fiction and articles on variety of topics have appeared in the Chicago Sun-Times, Fra Noi, Exchange Magazine, New Chicago Stories, and The Wednesday Journal. He edited West Side Stories, an anthology of short stories from City Stoop Press. He teaches public speaking, composition and literature in the English Department at Columbia College.
Andrea Change has graduated from sallon poetry novice to veteran. Her words can be found in various publications including Hammers, Stray Bullets and the Anthology of Chicago Saloon Poetry. A recent graduate from Northwestern University, she has a son, Pillip. Andrea is currently working on a project featuring poetry and her own photography.
Carlos Cumpian is author of the Chicano best sellers Coyote Sun, Latino Rainbow (Grolier/Childrens Press), and Armadillo Charm (Tia Chucha Press) among many others. He has conducted seminars on Latino and Native American Literature for educators through Chicago?s Urban Gateways and other national venues. Cumpian has been awarded two Community Arts Assistance Grants from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Events, and has been presented with a Gwendolyn Brooks Significant Illinois Author Award.
Paulinho Garcia performed and recorded two albums with the band Made in Brazil until 1991, when he started his own band, Jazzmineiro. Before coming to the US in 1979, Paulinho was a musician, arranger, producer and composer of jingles for the HP Studios. Besides working with his own band, Paulinho arranges, sings, and has played guitar with Columbia College project Kalinda and Alejo Poveda Latin Band.
Donna Blue Lachman is a playwright, actress, director, teacher, and cofounder of the Blue Rider Theater. Ms. Lachman starred in the Off-Broadway hit ?Family Secrets? by Sherry Glaser at the Apple Tree Theater. The author of nine plays, Ms. Lachman is also the recipient of numerous playwriting fellowships and commissions including the Illinois Arts Council, Chicago Artists International Award, and the National Foundation for Jewish Culture.
Representing our new voices will be Michael Pogue, who started writing poetry in 1998. Michael says ? I felt that writing every thought in my mind was a way to recognize and express my feelings. I want to be able to take my writing to the next level. It will take time and experience to learn even more about poetry.? Michael is a participant in our Prism workshop series led by Luis Rodriguez.
Visual Artist Raul Ortiz Bonilla is Director at Pi Gallery, Chicago, and a founding member of Acme Artists Co-op. He received his B.A. at Interamerican University, Ponce, Puerto Rico. He has received grants and awards from the Illinois Arts Concil; the Hispanic Art Festival, Museum of Science and Industry; and the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. His work has been exhibited at Calles y Suenos; the Joseph Randell Shapiro Gallery; Around the Coyote; the R.H. Love Gallery; Albizu Carnpos Museum; The Field Museum; and many other galleries.
