From Sojourner Truth to Lani Guinier, black women have spoken powerfully against systems of oppression that act to silence and repress their presence. Emily Hooper and Nadine George create a collaborative performance combining their stories with those of other black women who throughout the past century have spoken to the silenced places.

Emily Hooper and Nadine George create a collaborative performance combining their stories with those of other black women who throughout the past century have spoken to the silenced places. Nadine George is a performance artist and a doctoral candidate in Theater at Northwestern University. Emily Hooper teaches storytelling at Columbia College and performs with Glenda Baker as "In the Spirit."
