Moya) co-founded one of the first Latino arts organizations, ALBA, Inc., was a founding member of the Los Otros Poetry Collective and festival coordination for the City of Chicago?s Mayor?s Office of Special events where she produced the first VIVA CHICAGO, and coordinator for the Hispanic Festival of the Arts at the Museum of Science and Industry.

Moya) co-founded one of the first Latino arts organizations, ALBA, Inc., was a founding member of the Los Otros Poetry Collective and festival coordination for the City of Chicago?s Mayor?s Office of Special events where she produced the first VIVA CHICAGO, and coordinator for the Hispanic Festival of the Arts at the Museum of Science and Industry. She has a long history of bringing together poets, musicians and artists in Chicago. Tonight her friends will gather to celebrate Sulima?s strength and recovery from a long illness. Her poetry appears in Power Lines: A Decade of Poetry from Chicago?s Guild Complex (Tia Chucha Press). Event proceeds to defray cost of medical treatment.
David Hernandez-Famous Poet, and active member of Chicago?s arts community, Has published several books of poetry, including Despertando/Waking Up (1991), Satin city Lullaby (1986), and Rooftop Piper (Tia Chicha Press) (1991). He has written, recited, and taught poetry for thirty years and was commissioned to write a poem for Chicago?s one-hundred-and-fiftieth anniversary in 1987. Mr. Hernandez also performs with Street Sounds and is a pioneer in Chicago?s ?Spoken-Word? explosion.
